The Geology Department is sponsoring a public lecture Tuesday evening on the origin of modern geological thought in 17th century Florence. Dr. Alan Cutler of the Smithsonian Institute presents "Science, Seashells, and Religion: Nicolaus Steno and the Birth of Geology."
