Our friend, colleague, and globe-trotting scholar, Jim Handy, will be on hand for a three-day celebration September11-13 commemorating Jacobo Arbenz to be held in Guatemala City at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. The second day of the celebration will be devoted to a round table discussion of Jim's book,.Revolution in the Countryside: Rural Conflict and Agrarian Reform in Guatemala , 1944-1954. Jim will then make his way to the "Food
Sovereignty: A Critical Dialogue" International Conference at Yale University, September 14-15. Jim's paper is titled " The ‘non-economy’ and the Radical Dreams of Food Sovereignty” and will no doubt elicit serious dialogue. Good luck Jim!
